I'm a New York based artist, working in a variety of mediums, primarily oil on canvas. I was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and lived in San Diego before moving to New York City. Extensive travels have inspired several of my works. I'’m currently exploring the psychological impact of loss, abandonment and memory by referencing the interiors of decaying, abandoned buildings through a non-representational “lens”. My technique for evoking a specific environment includes scraping, sanding and rubbing pigment on the surface of the canvas.I produce uncluttered images on the picture plane to generate complex dialog. Objects and perspective in my work are a little skewed and imperfect. Music plays a vital role in my work. Inspiration also comes from nature, film noir, German Expressionism, Edward Hopper, and Paul Sérusier’s The Talisman, painted on the lid of a cigar box. Studies include University of California at San Diego and Art Student's League in New York City. I currently attend Pratt Institute in New York.
